Does this sound familiar? You run into a store or go through the drive through and pay with your debit card. In a hurry to keep on going, you quickly stuff your debit card in your pocket or cup holder. 

Later on, the scramble begins to figure out where you put it. The stress level rises as you frantically search for your debit card wondering whether you have lost it, or worse yet, had it stolen. If only you had taken just a moment to pick out a spot to put your debit card each time and placed it there. 

Simple Steps to Take to Safeguard Your Debit Card 

Establishing a safe home base for your debit card, along with following these additional tips will go a long way towards protecting the financial tools that you use to access your money. 

  • Monitor your account transactions on a regular basis. Mobile Banking from Century Next Bank is perfect for this. View your transactions and balance easily on devices such as a cellphone or tablet. You can even receive real time account alerts. 
  • Protect your debit card pin number. Do not share your pin number with others and shield the keypad from view as you enter the pin at an ATM or terminal in a store. 
  • When you use debit card, get a receipt if possible. The receipt provides an extra record of your transaction. Simply store your receipts together in a safe place should you need them for recordkeeping.
  • Finally-should despite your best efforts-you lose or have your debit card stolen, report it to the bank immediately.
